Brookhaven man charged with abusing dog

A Brookhaven man has actually been detained and charged with animal cruelty.
At roughly 10:36 a.m. Sunday, Brookhaven Police Department officers were contacted us to the Field Lark Lane location on reports of animal abuse.
“The individual was throwing bricks at it,” said BPD Assistant Chief Clint Earls. “The individual was arrested. The dog was seized by Animal Control and taken to a local veterinarian.”
Earls said the suspect — recognized in the Lincoln County Jail docket as Otha Barksdale — was charged with one count of misdemeanor abuse of a domesticated cat or dog.
The charge noted on the prison docket for Barksdale, 53, of 1210 NE Field Lark Lane, is “simple animal cruelty of cat/dog.”
“The suspect will be arraigned in Brookhaven Municipal Court,” Earls said.
