Jo Stone said her dad Jon Petty was not able to go to Banham Zoo in Norfolk and was informed they must have alerted the zoo when purchasing tickets online.

She said he was left “irate” by the occurrence, including: “It’s not appropriate to turn somebody away.”

The zoo said it was settling strategies to enable help and guide dogs in.

Ms Stone, from Fornham All Saints near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, said her dad, who lives close by, was asked if his five-year-old dog Dixon had actually been specifically booked in prior to he was declined entry.

“We were a bit shocked as it’s not something we have actually ever needed to do,” she said.
