Animal Friends takes in 30+ dogs, geese, cat from Middletown hoarding scenario

HAMILTON, Ohio (WXIX) – Dozens of animals have been pulled from a now-condemned home in Middletown after police served a search warrant and located them dwelling in filth.

Officers took 31 dogs, a few of that are 2-week-old puppies, to obtain much-needed care at Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton.

An animal management officer served the search warrant on Hill Avenue.

“She was seeing deplorable conditions and she had over 20 dogs in her vehicle already when we arrived on scene,” stated Megan Poffenbarger with Animal Friends Humane Society. “So we took another 11 and then we took two ducks and we took a cat. We had to bring everybody up here to Animal Friends.”

We had to run out and get some.”

Animal Friends says this latest case places them properly over capability and they should release some kennels.

“Most of all we need adopters right now and not even just for this hoarding case, they’re not ready for adoption yet, I have over 110 animals in this building that all need homes,” Poffenbarger defined. “There are at least 70 adoptable dogs in our building right now.”

The shelter says they will additionally use donations of meals and money to assist cowl issues like medical therapies.
