On Sunday afternoon (July 9), Cherry the cat was caught in the 40 foot tree in Waterfoot for more than a day, and required 3 fire teams from throughout Lancashire to get her down the following day.
Wendy Robinson, the cat owner’s neighbour, was attempting to complimentary Cherry for a while as her dog, Teddy, was playfully chasing after the cat right prior to it added the tree.
After trying numerous various techniques to attempt help Cherry down, Wendy called the RSPCA who recommended sounding the fire brigade.
Wendy said: “I called Rawtenstall station house and they said the very best thing to do is leave it over night and if she isn’t down by 10am on Monday (July 10) to call them once again.
“When I called them the next early morning since she was still up there, a team from Rawtenstall showed up, then the Accrington service, then Blackpool.
“There were 2 fire truck, a huge fire van and loads of firemens – my day was made.
“The tree climbers solved to the top of the tree then another fire truck showed up with a triple extension ladder.
“Cherry should’ve had enough since she ultimately got in the contractor’s bag. The tree climbers were so dazzling.
“For all those firemens to show up for this little cat and for the quantity of time it took was simply fantastic.
“They were outstanding and all truly good natured. They said it’s almost a misconception that individuals phone up all the time for a cat stuck in the tree since this is just the 2nd time in twenty years they’ve had this scenario.
“I’m just so grateful for all of them who helped us. They deserve recognition because they do some amazing work and it’s easy to take emergency services for granted so thank you to them all.”
