A kitten left scorched and not able to blink after being covered in hazardous chemicals can now see correctly after “pioneering” surgical treatment.
An emaciated and hurt Rosa was handed in to Bradford Cat Watch after being found on a doorstep.
It took place the feline had actually been covered in fibreglass resin prior to being rescued in February.
“There was a point where the veterinarian believed she wasn’t going to have the ability to do it,” said the charity’s Katie Lloyd.
At the point her treatment started, volunteers and veterinarians feared Rosa had a “really slim” opportunity of survival.
The compound left her having a hard time to breathe, with serious burns on her head and legs.
Rosa was not able to consume when she came to the shelter and needed to receive intravenous fluid to keep her alive.
However, after treatment, professionals at Northcote Veterinary Surgery will perform a three-hour operation to keep her sight and blinking capability.
Ms Lloyd, who established Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and Sanctuary, explained: “It’s a form of cosmetic surgery.
“We had specialist eye cosmetic surgeons taking a look at Rosa and the normal treatment would not have actually worked for her.
“So, we basically needed to patch together numerous strategies to try to repair it.”
She said Rosa’s condition now was a far cry from when she at first entered into contact with the charity.
“When Rosa initially concerned us, we were fretted about her sight. Her eyes were shut.
“Now she has operating eyes and they both blink.
“I believe there was a point where the veterinarian believed she wasn’t going to have the ability to do it,” she included.
