In 2022, Arizona Animal Welfare League rescued over 1,900 cats, with over 1,200 being kittens. Many native shelters, together with AAWL, are overwhelmed with kittens and wish the group’s help to assist save the furry felines.
Kim Vermillion from the Arizona Animal Welfare League joined Good Morning Arizona on Sunday morning to inform animal lovers what they need to do if they arrive throughout some cute kittens.
“So we’re seeing calls all the time for people finding orphaned kittens that are under eight weeks old and don’t have their mom and they need our help. What we’re trying to say is that they’re better off with their mom. Unless you know that the mom’s not coming back over eight hours, then that’s when you can kind of intervene,” she defined. “It can be hard to just leave a kitten because your instinct is to sort of take care of them. Maybe bring them home, give them food in eight hours. That’s the good time period to wait.”
Vermillion says different issues folks can do are to go away meals and water out for the lovable felines. You may build a small outside shelter to deal with the cats and their mother.
