The third Festival of Cats opens this Thursday (April 25) on the Pie Factory Gallery in Margate.
The pageant, which runs till Sunday (April 28) consists of a sequence of exhibitions, workshops and occasions.
The feline-themed pageant began from a love of T.S.Eliot’s ebook of poetry – “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats’ and much like the book, the festival celebrates the psychology, sociology and whimsy of cats.
Festival creators Jemma Channing and Helen Pitman were overwhelmed with the response to the Open Call for Artists for this year’s festival.
They said: “We had over 240 submissions this year from all over the UK and overseas and the exhibition will showcase over 170 pieces of work from illustration and painting to ceramics and photography. There’s something for everyone.”
The exhibition will probably be open 10am to 5pm, April 25-28 on the Pie Factory Margate.
