A man who caused dreadful levels of physical violence and mental suffering on his partner’s kitten has actually been imprisoned for 27 months.

The sentence provided to Lewis Hudson, 23, who pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court is among the longest offered for animal abuse.

The dreadful abuse started in the months after Hudson moved into a flat with his now ex partner in August 2021 and her kitten, Binx.

He left the 11 month-old kitten in hot showers for extended periods, shot her with pellets taken in household cleaner, and struck her with a mop taken in bleach.

He likewise shot himself marking on the kitten using steel toe cap boots.

Hudson, 23, was imprisoned for 27 months at Liverpool Crown Court

The abuse continued for 8 months and on one event the family pet was discovered by her troubled owner lying motionless in the bath and matted with blood.

She had actually been struck with a shovel with such force that a few of her teeth had actually been broken.

In a troubling series of text sent to his partner, Hudson informed her, “If ye don’t get home now am gonna kill it.” She returned home to discover the kitten dead and covered in blood.

Merseyside authorities and RSPCA inspector Anthony Joynes led the examination.

In his witness declaration, Mr Joynes said: “Binx was wrapped in a bag, covered with a towel and contained within a cardboard box.

Hudson threatened to kill the kitten in messages sent to his ex-partner

“I saw she had a number of fresh looking wounds around her nasal area and chin. I noted there were no obvious signs that might suggest Binx had been involved in a road traffic accident and her claws did not appear scuffed.

“The inside of her mouth was bloodied and I noted that both upper canines were broken. When handling Binx I noted a crisp packet type sound coming from the chest area which can be a sign of subcutaneous emphysema and indicative of chest trauma.

“The most likely cause of death in this animal, otherwise healthy, was a traumatic and non-accidental pneumothorax. The animal suffered multiple, different, blunt traumas when she was conscious.

Speaking after Hudson was sentenced, Mr Joynes said: “This case involved stomach-churning and sadistic levels of cruelty over a prolonged period.

“This is one of the most extreme examples of physical and psychological suffering inflicted on an animal I’ve seen in 14 years with the RSPCA.

“This case involved nothing short of torture and is exactly why the Animal Welfare (Sentencing) bill was introduced in 2021 to increase sentencing powers for the most extreme cases of animal cruelty.”

Hudson, of Netherley, had actually confessed 2 charges of triggering unneeded suffering to Binx, contrary to area 4 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

Sentencing him to 27 months in jail and prohibiting him for keeping any animals for the rest of his life, Judge Brian Cummings explained Hudson’s actions as a “sickening brochure of cruelty to a defenceless animal”.

In mitigation, the court heard Hudson was truly sorry and accepted misbehavior.
