A cat discovered shot in Tacoma is the 3rd in recent months to be given a South Sound animal shelter with a gunshot injury.
The 9-month-old cat, now called Pearl, was given the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County by Tacoma Animal Control on July 28. She has a .22-caliber bullet lodged in her chest. It cut a nerve and she can no longer move her neefront ideal leg.
According to the shelter, Pearl is the 3rd cat in 5 months to be given the shelter requiring immediate treatment after being shot.
In April, a cat that was shot in the leg was given the shelter with a shattered thigh. A couple of weeks later on, another cat was given the shelter with a BB weapon injury to his head, which triggered irreversible damage to his eye.
Shelter vets had the ability to treat both cats, however due to the fact that her injury is extreme and the damage is long-term, Pearl requires to have an amputation as quickly as possible to avoid more damage and a life of discomfort.
The Humane Society said contributions for her surgical treatment are required instantly. You can make a contribution on the shelter’s website at
