University of Louisville dental students working a rotation at the Red Bird Dental Clinic in southeastern Kentucky got an opportunity to fulfill UofL’s brand-new president throughout a recent check out to the area with a state lawmaker.

Kim Schatzel, who was visiting the remote location with Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, published selfies with the trainees on social networks and applauded the collaboration.

“UofL plays a vital role in preparing future dentists to serve patients throughout the commonwealth and beyond. I am so proud of the work that our dental students are doing at the Red Bird Clinic, filling a need that would likely be unmet without them,” said Schatzel. “This partnership is truly beneficial to all involved. Our students enrich their educational experience, and the residents of southeastern Kentucky receive exceptional care.”

UofL has actually partnered with the center in Beverly, Kentucky, given that 2017. UofL oral trainees work there 4 days a week under the instructions of a regional dental expert.

The center serves about 600 clients a year.

Schatzel and Stivers likewise visited Clay County High School, which is going through comprehensive remodellings.
