Spot-winged starling (Saroglossa spilopetra) is relatively typical in broadleaf forests and well-wooded locations of Inter-State Chandigarh Region (ISCR). Its total size is 19cm.

Small groups are seen guzzling nectar from blooms of trees such as the Indian Silk cotton.

Though the male and female of the types vary in look, a white area on wings and white iris show up on both sexes. The male bird has a black mask with a chestnut throat in addition to grey scalloped upper parts. The female has dull brown upper parts and whitish underparts having brownish-grey streaking.

Studies recommend though the population of this bird is reducing, the types is not susceptible. The tree holes or holes utilized by barbet are the nesting websites of spot-winged starlings.

In Western Himalayas, the types appears in the late spring. Their sightings end up being rarer in June and the bird practically abandons its breeding quarters by July.
