A recent funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation will enable for the enlargement of a global fowl, bat, and bug monitoring system.
The Motus Wildlife Tracking System contains almost 2,000 receiver towers throughout 34 international locations which observe tagged animals as they journey, giving a glimpse into their migratory patterns.
This $3.1 million funding will assist build new towers, upgrade the system’s capabilities, and fill in gaps throughout Western Canada and different international locations.
Stuart Mackenize, director of strategic belongings with Birds Canada, says the funding will be certain that “we have more scientific evidence available to inform conservation decisions.”
