Companion Care and The University of Bristol state that there is a good deal of issue about what dangers modifications in the Pet Travel Scheme Rules posture to the health of the human and dog population in the UK.
Robert White-Adams MRCVS from Companion Care said: “At present there is very little information available to address this concern as existing information logging is very little and documents monitoring at ports can be variable. We for that reason have little concept of the number of UK-resident dogs travel abroad, where they check out, the length of time they remain and what they are doing whilst abroad.
The study will gather and evaluate info about the travel patterns of UK homeowner dogs, around mainland Europe, over the last years.
Robert included: “The information to be looked at by the study will fill the information space and allow us to offer a quantitative evaluation of the illness threat, in addition to acquiring an understanding of owner awareness of dangers deal with by dogs taking a trip in Europe.
Owners of dogs with Pet Passports are being motivated to complete the brief survey, which is available now at http://www.greatpetsurvey.co.uk/. All finished surveys will be participated in a reward draw to win £100 of Pets at Home coupons!
The survey will be live online till 30th June 2012 and all information will be evaluated by the University of Bristol.
Dr Morgan said: “Without this info we have just an unclear concept of the dangers that the loss of border controls might posture. The response might be that there is little extra threat or it might be that the UK dog (and human) population might deal with some extreme illness dangers. As it stands now, we simply do not understand enough to make a notified judgement.”
