Joy Behar had a mentally explosive Fourth of July, as the 80-year-old revealed she ended up on a painful look for her cherished dog, Bernie, who went missing out on recently throughout a vacation fireworks show.

The comic stated the event on Tuesday’s episode of The View, her very first day back on the set after the talk program’s week-long hiatus.

“It’s even tough for me to speak about it,” Behar said throughout the Hot Topics section, keeping in mind the minute her other half unlocked to their Long Island, N.Y., home while fireworks went off in the area. “Steve unlocked, it was pitch black, and the next thing we understood, Bernie was gone.”

She said the couple “browsed your house, we went downstairs, we went outside, we took a flashlight, we were running around the streets,” prior to Behar called her child, who got the help of the regional cops and a number of area people who broadened the enormous search.

“My heart remained in my mouth. I imply, to lose a dog like that, he’s little, he might’ve gotten struck by a car. It was pitch black,” Behar said.

When mediator Whoopi Goldberg asked if Bernie was “under the bed,” Behar reacted, “No, he escaped! He escaped. My child called the cops, so they put out like an APB, when someone’s missing out on. I got in my car and began riding around with the headlights high. Somebody shouts out, ‘What are you doing you idiot?’ I seemed like stating, ‘I’m trying to find my dog!'”

Luckily, Behar’s other half entered into town and visited the regional cops department, where she said he discovered the dog waiting.

“He went a little additional [into the building] and there was the cops chief, holding Bernie,” Behar said as the audience praised. “I imply, it resembled, I believed I would never ever see that dog once again. You have a dream, what’s going to take place to him? Is somebody going to take the dog?”

So how did Bernie thank her for her diligence in dog-based investigator work? “He took a dump in your house the next day,” Behar revealed “I’m informing that story due to the fact that I desire individuals to keep in mind, when there are fireworks, dogs will go crazy. He never ever did anything like that. I imply, he ran half a mile away!”

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC.
