These adorable guinea pigs were discovered ‘shaking in fear’ after being abandoned without food and water outside a church in Woodthorpe.
The set were found by a shocked citizen after being left outside St. Mark’s Church in Longridge Road on June 30.
She took the animals home and fed them prior to calling the RSPCA.
RSPCA inspector Annette Della-Porter walked around to the lady’s home close to the church to gather the abandoned family pets. After they were medical examination RSPCA inspector Pam Bird transferred the set to RSPCA Derby and District Branch where they have actually been called Marzipan and Marmite.
RSPCA inspector Bird said: “Fortunately, both guinea pigs remained in good condition and didn’t need veterinary treatment, although they were exceptionally anxious and scared and they didn’t appear utilized to human interaction.
“It was an odd location to leave them in all reality and they were definitely not happy at being dealt with. But considering what they had actually been through in being left exposed to the components it was not a surprise they were frightened.
