This will be the last Caturday felid for a while as I’m off traveling this Friday. Enjoy the moggies!
The Guardian has a choice of the 2023 funny family pet awards. Unfortunately, a number of them have to do with d*gs, however we’ll neglect those. Click listed below to see the cats:

From the BBC we have the story of Zebby, a “hearing ear cat” for a deaf owner, and a cat who simply won an award for his services. Click to check out, or see the story listed below:
A cat who assists his deaf owner by informing her to noises around your house has actually won a nationwide award.
Zebby, a two-year-old black and white cat from Chesterfield, in Derbyshire, was called Cats Protection’s National Cat of the Year.
He supports his owner Genevieve Moss, 66, by tapping her to signal her to sounds like the phone or doorbell ringing.
Ms Moss said she “can’t imagine life without Zebby” and is “over the moon”.
Zebby, who has actually not had any unique training, has actually been selected from countless other animals as total winner of the National Cat Awards.
The occasion, arranged by the feline well-being charity, was held at Wilton’s Music Hall, in London, on Monday.
Heeeere’s Zebby:
Zebby was among 4 finalists in the Family Fur-ever classification and won after a public vote.
He was then crowned total winner by a panel of celebs and professionals, consisting of previous footballer David Seaman MBE and vet and television character Dr Scott Miller.
His owner said: “I am so happy with Zebby for revealing the world how user-friendly and caring cats can be, and what a positive result they can have on individuals’s lives.
“Without my listening devices, I can’t hear anything, now I have Zebby to help me.
“He’ll come and tap me when the phone is sounding, and after that I can pop my listening devices and speaker on and take the call.
“In the night, if there’s an unusual noise he will bat me on my head to wake me up and let me know.”
Zebby even assists Ms Moss by getting the mail from the doormat and bring it to her room in his mouth, or generating her slippers.
Now THAT is a practical (and uncommon) cat!
“Zebby is very special, I’ve never known a cat quite like him,” she included.
“He likes to be around me, anywhere I am, he’s not far behind.
“We’ve got an extremely close bond and I wouldn’t wish to cope without him.
“Living on my own and being deaf means life could be lonely, but not with Zebby around, he’s my hero.”
The cat won a prize and reward package, that included a £200 family pet store coupon.
And here are al; the 2023 awards from Cats Protection (I’ve included links):
Cats Protection’s National Cat Awards organiser Ashley Fryer said: “From the moment we read his entry form, we knew Zebby was something special. Zebby is clearly devoted to Genevieve, and their story highlights the powerful bond that exists between people and their cats. He’s a shining example of the joy and comfort a cat can bring.”
Other classification winners were:
- Eric – Winner of the Social Star classification, whose rags to riches story has actually seen him go from death’s door as an improperly roaming kitten to among Twitter and Instagram’s increasing stars.
- Henry IX – Winner of the Cat Colleagues classification, who invests his days supplying friendship and humour to the gardening group at Hampton Court Palace.
- Willow – Winner of the Moggy Marvels classification, who raised the alarm when her diabetic owner ended up being unconscious.
Here’s a video of Willow:

Finally, The Kiffness, who concentrates on turning caterwaulings into tunes, provides a sad ballad from a lonesome cat, “Sometimes I’m alone”. (I might have published this previously.) Get your handkerchiefs prepared!
