The Woodlands, TX — August 1, 2023- Ardest Gallery, a regional arts gallery, will be commemorating National Dog Day on August 26th in collaboration with regional dog rescue companies. National Dog Day is well known each year on this day in an effort to not just commemorate all dogs, however to motivate adoption.
Throughout the day, visitors to the gallery will get a peek at regional artists live painting commissioned animal pictures, can take part in a family pet picture painting class provided by artist Eric Sundin, and can learn more about regional dog rescue companies favorably affecting our neighborhood by checking out with their agents. A portion of ALL gallery sales on National Dog Day will straight benefit these companies.
“National Dog Day offers artists within our gallery community an opportunity to serve through their art. Seven gallery artists have generously agreed to donate a portion of commissioned pet portraits back to the referring organization,” said Julie Verville, Ardest Gallery Director. “Each of these artists offers a unique pet portrait style, giving pet owners a wide variety of options and price points to choose from.”
Among a few of the regional dog rescue companies that the gallery has actually partnered with are Operation Pets Alive, Who Rescued Who and Lone Star Animal Rescue. Representatives from these companies will be available throughout the day to offer info about their group, their available foster dogs and methods which to support their efforts.
The motivation for this occasion was triggered by gallery owner’s mom Barbara, a veteran citizen of The Woodlands and active foster volunteer. Verville’s latest relative is a foster dog stemming from Who Rescued Who.
“Our family recently lost our beloved 12-year-old French Bulldog Louis. Two gallery artists created wonderful portraits of him, each in their own unique style, which are now hanging in our home. The joy that is sparked each and every time we pass by one of those paintings, was a huge inspiration behind organizing this art event,” shared Verville.
Participating artists consist of: Robyn Crowell, M L Huff, Lauren Luna, Jeff Lung, Judy Mackey, Teresa Staley and Eric Sundin.
