Safe Community Association chair Chantel Manning says the info they collect assists cut search times down significantly.
“This goes into our database where we tag it with a corresponding wristband that is also given to guardian and child,” says Manning.
The Kid Find cubicle is a collective effort with regional search and rescue teams along with the Medicine Hat Police Service.
Manning says even under the most careful eye, kids have a possibility of going missing out on in big crowds.
“I’ve had to work with parents that have had those unfortunate events happen and there’s a breakdown right? Like you don’t know, your mind is going to go to the worst place possible and especially with Stampede, there’s so much going on, so many different rides that it takes a mere moment for a kid to, ‘oh look at that’ and off they go,” discusses Manning.
The cubicle will be open from midday to 7 p.m. every day at the Stampede.
However, volunteers can select their hours.
