These brand-new support procedures increase the EU’s continuous assistance to partner nations in Africa, the Eastern Collaboration, and the Western Balkans, and broadens the European Peace Center’s geographical outreach to the Southern Area.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Council embraced a support step worth EUR10 million to the advantage of the Military of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH). This choice belongs to the EU’s work to more enhance its security engagement with its Western Balkan partners.
The EPF support step will enhance the capabilities of the AFBiH by improving and updating the devices of its tactical assistance brigade Through the arrangement of suitable devices, the support step will likewise help them to add to EU military CSDP objectives and operations. It will even more permit the swift and sustainable implementation of the NATO designated battalion, whether as part of an EU CSDP objective or operation or under formats such as the United Nations, NATO, the OSCE, and eventually add to the security of the civilian population.

Georgia
The Council embraced a support step worth EUR20 million for the advantage of the Georgian Defence Forces
The support step will enhance the capabilities of the Georgian Defence Forces’ military medical, logistics, engineering and cyber-defence services, by supplying appropriate non-lethal devices, products and services consisting of equipment-related training.
This support step will enhance the EUR12.75 million support step embraced in December 2021 which reinforces the capabilities of the Georgian Defence Forces.
The current support step is more evidence of the EU’s dedication to enhance the capabilities of the Georgia with the goal of improving its nationwide security, stability and strength.
Lebanon
The Council embraced a support step worth EUR6 million to the advantage of the Lebanese Army ( LAF).
The support step will improve the abilities and the strength of the Lebanese Army (LAF) to guarantee the nationwide security and stability of Lebanon through the improvement of their military medical capabilities, and the arrangement of devices for the LAF’s functional workers.
To accomplish this goal, the support step will fund health care devices to support military medical services, and specific devices.
The support was asked for by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon in October 2022.
Mauritania
The Council embraced a support step worth EUR12 million to the advantage of the militaries of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania
The support step will improve the abilities of the militaries of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (FARIM) to much better react to the security risks Mauritania and the area are dealing with. More particularly, the support step has 2 essential goals: enhancing the military capabilities of 2 pre-identified battalions of the FARIM, and enhancing the in situ medical capabilities of the FARIM on the border with Mali, Western Sahara and with Algeria. Assistance to the implementation of the Rwanda Defence Force in Mozambique
The Council embraced a support step worth EUR20 million to support the ongoing implementation of Rwanda Defence Force in Cabo Delgado province. This implementation began in July 2021 at the demand of Mozambican authorities, in reaction to the continuous battle versus terrorism.
The support step embraced today contributes to the continuous support of EUR 89 million for the Mozambican Army in combination with the EU Training Objective (EUTM) Mozambique and EUR 15 million for the Southern African Advancement Neighborhood (SADC) Objective in Mozambique ( SAMIM).
The support step will allow the acquisition of cumulative and individual devices, and cover expenses associated with the tactical airlift required to sustain the Rwandan implementation in Cabo Delgado.
Background
The EPF was developed in 2021 to support partners worldwide in the locations of military and defence, and with the supreme goal of avoiding dispute, maintaining peace and strengthening worldwide security and stability.
