LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The case of a Nebraska man accused of leaving his dogs out in subzero temperatures was despatched to district courtroom on Tuesday.
Kevin Jemison, 40, is charged with two counts of merciless neglect of an animal leading to demise or critical harm.
On a frigid January day, a deputy with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was referred to as to Jemison’s home close to Giltner on a report of two dogs continually being outdoors.
The deputy discovered one canine lifeless, and one other had hypothermia, an arrest affidavit says.
Giltner is 15 miles southwest of Aurora. The windchill on the Aurora Municipal Airport that morning dipped to 43 levels beneath zero, in keeping with the National Weather Service.
Jemison has given up possession of the surviving canine to the Aurora Veterinary Clinic, a Tuesday courtroom submitting mentioned.
The clinic was licensed by the courtroom to place the canine up for adoption.
Jemison’s arraignment in Hamilton County District Court is about for May 16.
