A instructor in Taiwan has apologised following backlash for repeatedly dropping his pet cat onto the ground in a bid to reveal a physics precept throughout a category.
The instructor, Lee Feng, was recorded by one in all his college students dropping his cat Laifu onto the onerous flooring as he tried to reveal the physics precept of “conservation of angular momentum” which says it’s unimaginable for an object to not spin with none exterior forces or torques.
But cats can defy the precept and land on their toes with out coming involved with any exterior forces, like a wall, to spin and land safely.
Mr Lee was trying to point out how cats have a pure balancing system that permits them to reorient themselves. It is as a result of the cats have extraordinarily versatile spines permitting them to twist and bend their our bodies mid-air.
The video posted on Facebook on 5 March confirmed the instructor holding the cat the other way up, grabbing its legs and letting it fall onto the bottom.
“It is fine to do this with a cat but we cannot do it with a dog,” Mr Lee informed his college students within the video. The cat let loose a hiss because it hit the bottom.
The video went viral on social media and many individuals lashed out on the instructor for his insensitive demonstration and for setting a foul instance for his college students.
“Shouldn’t being a teacher teach children to love and respect life? This was such a bad demonstration,” a person commented.
“So, people like this can be teachers?” one other mentioned.
“You are a cat abuser. You are teaching students to do bad things,” one other outraged person mentioned.
Mr Lee has since apologised and mentioned he took Laifu for a veterinary checkup realising it may have brought on it psychological misery.
“As the owner of Laifu, I ignored the physical and mental harm to it brought by the experiment. As a teacher, I behaved controversially without considering that it would have a potential negative impact on my students and others,” he mentioned in a Facebook publish.
He mentioned he adopted the cat from a charity and it sleeps with him on the mattress, in obvious bid to point out his love and care in the direction of the cat.
He mentioned he has donated NT$50,000 (£1,234) to the Taiwan Homeless Animal Rescue Association to make up for his inappropriate actions.
“I will buy you the best feline food to show how sorry I am,” he mentioned, referring to the cat and hoping that it forgives him.
