This world record took a genuine licking.
A Labrador/German shepherd mix called Zoey has actually lapped up the reward for the longest tongue on a living dog.
The Louisiana pooch has a tremendous 5-inch-long tongue — longer than a soda can.
The 3-year-old puppy constantly had a long tongue, according to her owners, Sadie and Drew Williams, who initially believed she would turn into it.
However, as Zoey grew, her tongue stayed unusually big — with individuals even discussing for how long it was.
“We got Zoey when she was only 6 weeks old, and in the first-ever picture we have of her, she has her tongue sticking out,” Sadie recalled to Guinness World Records.
“It would be slobbering all over the place,” Drew included.
The couple didn’t formally understand for how long Zoey’s tongue was up until they took her to a veterinarian in 2015, where they found she had a record-breaker in her mouth.
Her prolonged mouth organ went beyond the previous record of 3.74 inches, held by an English Setter called Bisbee from Tucson, Arizona.
According to her owners, Zoey likes the outdoors, with her preferred activities consisting of bring, chasing after squirrels, riding in the car and swimming.
“She will pretty much go fetch anything you throw and swim in any body of water that’s available,” said Drew.
Although her tongue might be a reward winner, it offers some unwary individuals a shock if they wish to provide her a pat.
“Every now and then while we’re out taking her on a walk, people will come up to her and want to pet her,” Drew explained.
“We’ll warn them ahead of time — ‘Hey, she’s friendly but she might slobber on you’ — and every now and then she will, and they’ll have a big slobber mark on their black pants,” he said with a laugh.
