New Independence Township, MN (KROC-AM News) – A Minnesota truck driver was killed Saturday in an intense crash in the Duluth location.
The State Patrol says 31-year-old Xavier Henson of Grand Rapids was driving a tanker truck transferring combustible product north on Highway 33 when he stopped working to work out a curve near the junction with Highway 53. The truck then left the roadway and reversed prior to the truck and the contents of the tanker trailer ignited.
The resulting fire sent a thick plume of black smoke into the sky and required traffic to detour around the crash website. It was reported quickly prior to 1 PM about 10 miles northeast of Duluth.
