Sheldon, a widely known dog at self-reliance marches and rallies, passed away in February at the age of 8 after his heart issues ended up being untreatable.
Chairman John McGregor, the band’s creator George Kempick and lead drum Jock Ritchie shocked Sheldon’s owner Jane Cooper Stewart with a memorial bass drum at the Piper’s Rest prior to the band started to lead the march through the city.
McGregor said Sheldon had actually been “a very special dog” who was “loved by everyone in the indy family”.
He went on: “But for the band he was a lot more … our mascot, happily leading us on marches and star of the program at occasions.
“Always calm, always proud, always gentle. We’re all devastated by his loss. He was such an amazing dog and a proud indy warrior.”
