Aug 30, 2015. The cat had the left hip dislocated. An Ehmer’s Sling was offered to minimize the dislocation 3 days back. This is the very first option of treatment as it is cheaper than surgical treatment such as femoral head excision( femoral head osteotomy).
This approach has around 50% opportunity of success compared to surgical treatment. The owner needs to wait and see.

  1. There's a stray cat in my neighborhood with a dislocated hip, i tried to get to vet but he freaks out when anyone picks him up, he's is an sweet heart, orange male tabby that everyone in neighborhood knows, cause he is so friendly. he walks and runs on it and when he sits, he sits strangely with his legs gapped open infront of him, I know something is dislocated because his back leg from hip just hangs.
What do you suggest I do to try to help him? I've tried picking him up, he went like a straight tree branch and manages to get out of my arms. I've tried cages and he freaked out, scream meowing and running in circles scared. I've tried putting a coat over his face and picking him up, same result, he freaked out. I know it's just that he isn't used to people picking him up but what do you suggest? And is it expensive to get a dislocated hip fixed? I am moving soon and hoping to at least do something for him before I leave cause he is a really good kitty. :/
