When Carlee Dowsett, from Canada, shared a video of her dog Molly on a treadmill to help with her anxiety, users couldn’t help but melt at how adorable Molly was.
The video, shared on Carlee’s TikTok, has garnered an overwhelming amount of views as the dog mom revealed her pup often runs on the treadmill at night to have more ‘restful sleeps.’

‘Molly runs on her treadmill before bed to physically tire herself out so she can have more restful sleeps,’ she showed Molly using the treadmill.
The heartwarming video shows the fluffy pup running on the treadmill as her tongue sticks out and her ears flop.
Unfortunately, Molly isn’t the only dog that suffers from anxiety, as many rescue dogs often suffer from anxiety-like traits such as noise sensitivity, fear of surfaces, fear of being alone, aggression, and compulsive behavior.
And while users were shocked by the hack that helps calm Molly down, according to many different studies treadmill use among dogs is quite common among pups who suffer from anxiety.
One study in Finland that studied 13,715 dogs, focused on dogs with anxiety-like traits and found that 72.5 per cent of dogs displayed ‘some kind of highly problematic behavior.’
The study, published in March 2020, noted: ‘Noise sensitivity was the most common anxiety trait, with 32 percent of dogs being highly fearful of at least one noise.’
As well as treadmill use, music has also been shown to have a calming effect on pets.

A study in the Animals journal found that ‘exposure to classical music appears to have a calming influence on dogs in stressful environments.
‘The use of music in domestic animal contexts shows great potential as an effective and easy-to-implement therapeutic measure with many flow-on benefits to animal health and welfare.’
Another study in Physiology & Behavior added that classical music can help reduce stress in rescue dogs.
The study found that auditory enrichment has a positive physiological effect on animals, especially dogs who have spent time in shelters.
