A British man was bitten by a snake while retrieving his drone during a trip to Fraser Island, Queensland, TikTok video shows.

Benjamin Cramp, who operates the Instagram page @geebeetv, posted the video detailing the moments leading up to his unlucky encounter. In the video’s on-screen captions, Cramp explains that he decided to rent a vehicle to take down to the beach on Fraser Island. He and his partner set up camp and he was able to capture drone footage of the sunrise.

Cramp said that he crashed his drone into a tree while recording the view. He then had to climb up the dunes to retrieve it, and while walking back he says he felt something “hit” his ankle.

“I stood on something dark, and I felt something hit my ankle. I got back to the truck, saw the fang marks and then it sort of sunk in what had happened,” he says in the video. “We had no signal, but these legends bandaged me up and rushed me down the beach. As soon as we reached signal, they sent the helicopter in.”

He continues, “They checked out the bite and then took off immediately.”

BENJAMIN CRAMP: Right, so I just got bitten by a venomous snake in Australia. Quick story time for you. We decided to hire this very questionable pink 4 by 4 and take it down through the jungle at Fraser Island. As you can tell, it was a bit bumpy. The tracks were washed away and the sand was pretty thick, but we managed to get down to the beach on the east side, which was amazing.

But then we made a pretty big mistake. The tide was coming in quick. And everyone seemed to be making their way home, but we decided to make camp. Managed to share the camp with a couple of dingoes and a few crabs. We were up super early for this amazing sunrise.

And then that’s when it happened. I crashed my drone into this tree and then I had to climb up the dunes to get it, walk back down through this patch of grass. And I stood on something dark. And I felt something hit my ankle. I got back to the truck, saw the fang marks, and then it sort of sunk in what had happened.

We had no signal. But these legends bandaged me up and rushed me down the beach. As soon as we reached signal, they sent the helicopter in. They checked out the bite and then took off immediately.

Not too bad though, I got a free helicopter sightseeing tour of Fraser Island. Currently waiting for bloodwork. And, yeah, welcome to Australia.
