One of the more special customs in sports, and naturally it would need to become part of MLS soccer, is the “Beer Snake” at Audi Field, home of D. C. United. During the match, fans in the advocates end zone will produce a weaving, winding ‘stack’ of empty plastic beer cups – beginning in the very first row, the ‘snake’ will become developed enough to arrive of the area. The custom is even continued by XFL fans, whose DC Defenders share the arena with D. C. United in February through April.

Throughout the latter half of the video game, fans can enjoy as the Beer Snake is meticulously built – empty cups are tossed towards the snake, and fans will gather them into brief stacks, and after that pass those stacks along to be included into the primary snake. Fans can enjoy as the snake gets longer and longer, including increasingly more curves as the variety of cups multiplies, ultimately winding its method to the really leading. And if you are lucky, at that point you might see the start of a 2nd snake, as soon as the very first snake reaches the fan goal’s peak.

While special, nevertheless, the custom is not without debate – the custom was obviously suspended in 2022, as there were a number of problems from fans about their rowdier pals spilling beer all over them in their cup-tossing liveliness; a couple of fans were even recorded on video tossing complete and half-full cups of beer in their enthusiasm to increase the snake’s length. But in 2023, easy going heads dominated, and the Beer Snake building and construction team is now back in business, albeit consisting of extra stern cautions from arena staff about beer-throwing and its effects. Now if you make the trek to our country’s capital, you can see the Beer Snake as soon as again, and even help build it if you are resting on that end, in all its serpentine magnificence.
