Mountain rescuers introduced a 3 hour rescue objective to save an ‘unfortunate’ hiker after he hurt himself while climbing up a fell in the Lake District.
Crews from Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called out when the man was hurt while climbing up Scales Fell on Blencathra on Monday. The man was climbing up the Lake District hill when he suffered an ankle injury at around 11.30am.
Ten members of volunteer group invested more than 3 hours on a rescue operation which included stretchering the man to be taken by teams from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). They were initially provided a place utilizing the What 3 Words service however said this shown to be incorrect.
