A snake wrangler has actually discussed his “nightmare” scenario with a reptile in an especially difficult area.
Nick Evans, the “snake rescuer” was on a job in Mariannhill, South Africa, reacting to a call at a shipping container after a worker “saw a large black snake” within.
Nick was on the scene as rapidly as possible, where he was informed that the container was rather busy – it was packed to the gills with cardboard.

“I observed they weren’t over-exaggerating when they said it was, ‘filled with cardboard’. A worst problem for somebody like me.
“The snakes usually make life extra difficult, by going right to the back of the room, or in this case, container.”
The objective was difficult, and Nick and a coworker got to work sorting through the fragments.
“After unloading a great deal of cardboard, the very first little bit of action that I believe provided everybody a scare, is when my foot went through a rotten area of the flooring,” he joked. “That was more harmful than the mamba!
“Eventually, after removing a lot of cardboard, I caught a glimpse of the mamba in the middle of the pile.”
He continued: “I briefly saw the tail, but it soon disappeared. More cardboard removal was needed!”
Nick reckoned that there may have been 2 snakes in there – offered it was mating season.
He, “handled to get the tail-end of a mamba. I pulled it out, and got the tail with my hand, moving the tongs back into the space, to be all set to get the head-end.
“As I pulled more of the mamba out, I could see it was just one, which was slightly disappointing…”
But although the tough part was done, there was another grim twist in store for Nick.
“I pulled it right out, decreased it to the flooring, and pinned it down,” he continued. “Horrible fluids came out of its behind, which it smeared over my arm, hoping I’d launch it.
“Fortunately, I’m rather utilized to this approach of self-defence of theirs!
“It was a well-fed animal, around 2.2-2.3m in length. Probably lived a good life in there. But it’s time for it to find a new home away from people.”
