Shrewsbury authorities look for help to discover owner of abandoned dog

SHREWSBURY – The Shrewsbury Police Department is requesting the general public’s help in locating the individual who abandoned a dog on Route 9 Sunday early morning.

According to details released on the SPD social networks accounts, the male German shepherd was found around 10 a.m., connected by its leash to a bench near the Christmas Tree Shops, 1000 Boston Turnpike.

According to witnesses, the individual who connected the dog to the bench was seen leaving the location in a taxi cab.

Police state the dog is neutered and was using a black collar and a chain leash. The dog was not microchipped.

The dog is currently being housed at the Worcester Animal Rescue League however is not available for adoption.
