BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A South Florida mom needs to know how a dog who seriously hurt her child was still on the streets in spite of it being thought in another attack.
“I am the mother of the 5-year-old girl who was mauled by a pit bull,” said Amanda Chalfant.
It’s been a month given that her little woman was assaulted by a dog at a public play ground in Hallandale Beach.
Her mom dealt with the Broward County Commission Tuesday still searching for responses and responsibility.
“The attack on my daughter did not need to happen, should not have happened, had animal control been doing their jobs,” Chalfant said.
The County Commission and the county’s animal control department have actually been struck with troubling allegations.
“The same dog that attacked my child attacked a seven-year-old boy last July,” Chalfant said.
Hallandale Beach City Commissioner Michele Lazarow indicated a county bite report from back in July that she says is linked to the exact same dog who bit Chalfant’s child back in February.
“Within a matter of months of being adopted, while being a neighbor, the dog bit 7-year-old Ritchie only inches from his eye,” said Lazarow.
Local 10 News connected to the county’s animal care department to ask if the exact same dog bit another kid last summer season, why was it set up for adoption a 2nd time?
They decreased our ask for remark.
County commissioners did not go over the accusations throughout Tuesday’s conference, due to their legal counsel recommending them not to.
