DENVER — Fountain law enforcement officer shot and injured a man who they state assaulted them throughout a domestic disruption call Saturday night, according to our news partner KOAA.
The man’s dog was likewise shot by officers and passed away throughout the supposed attack.
The shooting occurred at an address on Taos Circle in the El Paso County town of Fountain right before 6:00 p.m.
Public Information Officer Lisa Schneider informed KOAA that when officers got to the address, the man’s dog started assaulting an officer. A brief time later on, the man started assaulting both officers.
Both officers fired at least one round striking the suspect and the dog, according to authorities.
The man was carried to the health center where his condition is unidentified. The dog passed away at the scene.
One officer was hurt and carried to the health center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both officers were put on administrative leave per department policy. The Colorado Springs Police Department will lead the examination.
