The vans will be utilized to get dogs for sterilisation and immunisation at MC’s Animal Birth Control Centre, where they will be offered appropriate medical treatment.
A sector-wise strategy has actually been prepared, under which NGO Compassion for Animal Welfare Association, the company designated for the ABC program, will capture the non-sterilised dogs and sterilise them to manage the increasing roaming dog population in the city.
MC commissioner Anindita Mitra said on releasing the procedure in a specific sector/area, the NGO will work there till the whole female population of that sector/area was sterilised.
The focus is on sterilising more female dogs, as it will guarantee that the whole pack cannot procreate even if some male dogs are excluded.
