FRANKLINTON, N.C. — An 81-year-old woman and her small dog died Thursday night in a house fire in Franklin County.

Crews responded to a home on Harris Way before 10 p.m. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was unable to walk and trapped inside. Firefighters found her on the floor of the home and brought her outside.

First responders administered CPR, but she had no pulse and was pronounced dead.
