As quickly as John Debacker got the call about an only cat stranded in the middle of New York City’s Grand Central Parkway, he understood he needed to arrive rapidly. There were 4 lanes of rush hour on either side of the cat, and the longer it took him to arrive, the most likely she was to run.

The knowledgeable cat rescuer dropped whatever he was doing, called his friend Karenlynn Starcher for backup, and drove directly to the scene. When he arrived, he immediately found the afraid cat standing on the center average.

Debacker pulled over on the westbound side of the highway and made his method over to the cat with Starcher by his side. On top of needing to work rapidly, they understood they needed to approach her thoroughly so that she wouldn’t bolt.

With cars and trucks whipping past them, the duo strolled along the center average up until the cat was right in front of them. Debacker curtained a blanket over his hands and connected to get her, however she noticed his motion and instantly ran the other method.

Horrified, Debacker and Starcher viewed as the cat crossed the eastbound lanes. She weaved in between speeding cars and trucks in the very first 2 lanes, however as she crossed the 3rd lane, she was struck.

“I immediately hopped the barrier and forced traffic to a stop where the cat was seen laying in the number 3 lane,” Debacker composed in a Facebook post, ”still alive, however stunned.”

As Debacker ran over to the cat on the eastbound side, Starcher recuperated their trap from the westbound lanes.

“I grabbed her with all of my might and I wrapped her in a blanket …” Debacker composed.

Debacker crossed the highway once again, this time with the cat securely in his arms, and the duo protected her in the cage.

Miraculously, the cat had no noticeable injuries. Even though she was shocked, she appeared OK. So, Debacker called her Miracle.

Debacker drove Miracle directly to the emergency situation veterinarian, where they provided her a complete medical assessment. Just as Debacker had actually believed, she remained in almost ideal shape.

“She survived with no injuries,” Debacker informed The Dodo.

Debacker scanned Miracle for a microchip, and, thankfully, she had one.

“It came up to over a mile away from where she was found,” Debacker said, “so we were able to reunite her with her parents.”

Miracle, whose genuine name is Flamingo, was reunited with her moms and dads as quickly as her health was cleared by the veterinarian. Debacker doesn’t understand how Flamingo discovered her method to the middle of the hectic highway, however he’s glad that she made it out OK.

Now, Debacker gets upgrade images from Flamingo’s moms and dads of the sweet cat snuggled in her bed — comfortable at home, where she belongs. Her moms and dads are glad that Debacker saved their precious cat, while the devoted rescuer is grateful that numerous drivers stopped that day and permitted him to do so.

“Seeing all lanes of traffic come to a halt for an animal was an amazing sight to see,” Debacker composed, “seeing so many people care.”

To help cats like Flamingo get rescued, make a contribution to Debacker’s organization, the Long Island Cat/Kitten Solution, Inc.
