CLARKESVILLE, Ga. — Investigators state a cat is the reason for an apartment or condo fire that happened Sunday afternoon in Clarkesville.
Clarkesville Fire Department in addition to other emergency situation services was contacted us to the Cameron Apartments at 3:10 p.m. for a smoke alarm.
According to the release, when fire teams arrived they required entry into the house and discovered smoke with one sprinkler switched on.
The lawn sprinkler was apparently able to put out the fire in the kitchen location. Firefighters had the ability to include the fire in the house. Officials state the fire did not spread out throughout the building or to other houses.
During the examination, the State Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire was brought on by a cat that was inside the house.
The cat apparently got on the fridge and knocked a bag off onto the toaster.
Clarkesville Fire Chief Jason Poole said the cat in concern had a history of getting on the counter to get on top of the fridge.
The locals were not home at the time of the fire and all the family pets in the house were saved by the firemens.
