MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (WDJT) — Police and fire teams are requesting the neighborhood’s help in finding the owner of a stunning orange cat who was rescued Wednesday early morning after a fire broke out at a West Allis apartment building.
“West Allis Police Department did bring him in, I know they had been looking for the owner,” said Kate Hartlund, the neighborhood engagement organizer at Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Center (MADACC).
The cat was transferred to MADACC after being discovered roaming by the Morgan Grove Apartments.
“He did smell of some smoke, but we haven’t noticed any signs of any respiratory issues that are normally associated with being in a house fire,” included Hartlund.
There’s hope he will be reunited with his family quickly, if somebody has the ability to recover him.
“The fact of the matter is only about 5-6% of cats are reclaimed every year,” she said.
Hartlund informed CBS 58 the cat has actually already gone through a complete consumption test and no owner recognition nor microchip was discovered.
“There is a chance that he was just a stray cat,” she said.
In the meantime, Hartlund said newbies spend 5 legal days waiting to see if a relative appears, and if they do not, they can increase for adoption.
“Our website is updated every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. to midnight, so if you are looking for your lost animal, don’t just look once, continue to look,” Hartlund motivated.
If this cat comes from you or understand somebody who recognizes this cat as their own, please contact MADACC at (414) 649-8640.
