“We have feral cats around, so we weren’t sure how many were in there at first,” stated Manuel.
The Kelowna Fire Department and the city’s animals manage services were all contacted us to the scene.
“It was very deep, where the cat was. It was a confined space, making it difficult to rescue,” stated Manuel.
Provided how tight the tunnel of the storm drain was, the fire department couldn’t fit inside to pull the cat out. Manuel states, teams flooded the storm drain with their tube and and had a net prepared on top to get the cat as it came out.
After 3 and a half hours, the cat was rescued and given security.
Manuel stated the cat seemed unimpaired, simply extremely damp from remaining in the storm drain.
She approximated the cat might have been stuck in the drain for about 3 days, as some trainees state they started hearing meows a couple of days earlier, however nobody had the ability to identify where it was originating from.
Animal control took the cat to the SPCA, where the society will search for its owners, if it has any.
In a social networks post, the SPCA stated the cat is a young undamaged male, black and white, without any ID.If anybody understands where this cat belongs, call the Kelowna SPCA at 250-861-7722.
