A safeguarded bird was hurt in County Durham – and authorities are now appealing for details.
The red kite bird was discovered with a shot injury near Burnhope Burn, in upper Weardale, by a member of the general public who was out walking.
An x-ray validated the bird had actually been shot and had actually suffered an extreme break in its wing which was splinted.
The bird is now being taken care of by a good Samaritan at Ryedale Wildlife Rescue in Malton.
