Snow Queen! Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway participate in charity walking for Norwegian Guide and Scout Association’s yearly refugee fundraising event

Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit of Norway were all smiles this afternoon as they braved the cold temperatures for a charity hike.

The royal couple, both 49, visited Øvresetertjern – a lake in a remote area of Oslo – as part of the Norweigan Guide and Scout Association’s annual fundraiser.

This year, the organisation is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the month-long charity event – which is in collaboration with the Norweigan Refugee Council.

Prince Haakon and his wife took their one-year-old dog Molly Fiskebolle – who was bought as a Christmas present for their two children in 2021 – along with them on the excursion.

The mother-of-two cut a stylish figure in a navy padded coat and slim-fitting trousers.

Along with her knitted grey hat, Princess Mette-Marit also wore a thin checked scarf around her neck.

Meanwhile, her husband also wrapped up warm in a waterproof long-line coat and brown walking boots with red laces.

During the walk, the couple opted to keep their beloved family pet on the lead.

Stopping for a break along the way, the pair were pictured warming themselves around a campfire.

While Mette-Marit warmed her hands by holding a mug containing a hot drink, Haakon was pictured giving Molly a loving stroke as she sat obediently by his side.

Earlier this month, the royal couple were welcomed to Windsor Castle by the Prince and Princess of Wales during their tour of the UK.

The two royal couples had previously met in 2018 during the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s trip to Oslo.

Dressed to impress, mother-of-three Kate donned a Burberry green suit and matching blouse from the brand for the occasion at Windsor.

Looking equally elegant, Mette-Marit, who wed heir to the throne Haakon in 2001, sported a vibrant long-sleeved red dress as she posed for a group photograph alongside the other royals.

Haakon is heir apparent to the throne of Norway. Despite being older, his sister Princess Märtha Louise of Norway is fourth in line to the throne due to Norway’s succession rules.

Mette-Marit was born a commoner, to farmers in Norway and was a single mother by the time of her engagement to Crown Prince Haakon in 2000.

She became Crown Princess after the couple’s marriage in 2001. Mette Marit has spent her reign championing humanitarian projects while joining official visits.

Her first official appearance was at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony at Oslo City Hall on December 10, 2000, following the announcement of the couple’s engagement on December 1.
