Our newsroom periodically reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is utilized when rewording basic news briefs that stem from main sources, such as a city news release about a roadway closure, and which need little or no reporting. At times, this byline is utilized when a newspaper article consists of many authors or when the story is formed by aggregating formerly reported news from numerous sources. If outdoors sources are utilized, it is kept in mind within the story.
