A three-year-old crossbreed dog is having a hard time to discover his permanently home after investing 7 months in kennels. Can you help?

Copper was initially rescued last summer season prior to being given The Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home in Gloucestershire.

“Copper has the most beautiful character; he’s simply the most significant goofball! He welcomes everybody like he’s understood them all his life and is eager to be doing whatever his preferred human beings depend on,” states Ebony Poole, kennel senior at The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home.

“He’s spirited, energetic, smart, excitable and caring. He actually is a fantastic dog.”

As Copper has actually lived a fairly protected life up previously, he can discover other dogs a bit challenging. Since of this, a home without any other animals would be best. Yet, the staff at the shelter do think that he has the prospective to be a a lot more social dog, as long as his brand-new owner continues to stay devoted to his training and self-confidence building.

It is also worth noting that Copper would best suit a family where any children are at least 16 due to his energetic nature. That’s not to say that he couldn’t be introduced to children once he has excelled with his manners, as he is an incredibly friendly pup. But he just doesn’t quite understand his size.

He would also thrive by being rehomed by someone equally as active as he is, who loves the outdoors and nature.

“Long quiet countryside walks are his favourite setting as he can take in all the sights and smells around him,” Ebony adds. “If I could describe a perfect home for Copper it would be with a person or couple who are active, love the outdoors and who want to take their dog on long walks with them, and hopefully someone who is really keen to show Copper all sorts of exciting brand-new things like scentwork, puzzle toys, obedience training and more.”

However, he’s equally as happy chilling out at the end of a long day and snuggling up on the sofa.

Copper enjoys learning tricks – having already learned several commands such as sit, stay, down, wait, paw and muzzle – and would truly blossom with owners who are keen to continue his training.

Squeaky toys and his favourite food – cream cheese – have motivated him to learn these commands incredibly quickly, with the staff commenting on how rewarding it has been to train him.

He is now used to wearing a muzzle when out and about, this is because he can occasionally become overly excited when around other dogs. However, the team are confident that he will continue to improve, with him already being able to enjoy walks with other calm dogs.

“I just can’t understand why nobody has adopted him yet, he is a very special dog with so much love to give, he really is an ideal best friend just waiting to be adopted!” Ebony explains.

If you can offer Copper his perfect forever home, you can visit The Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home online or in-person to fill out an enquiry form.
