AURORA, Colo. (AP) — Six individuals were hurt — 2 seriously — when part of a heating and ventilation system collapsed at a resort swimming pool in Colorado on Saturday, fire authorities said.
There were 50 to 100 visitors in the swimming pool when the collapse happened about 9:50 a.m. Saturday at the Gaylord Rockies resort near Denver International Airport, Aurora Fire Rescue said.
Large metal ductwork and mechanical parts that were installed on the ceiling crashed down upon the swimming pool deck and into the water, covering almost the whole location of the swimming pool, company spokesperson Sherri-Jo Stowell said.
The victims suffered injuries that varied from permeating injuries and cuts to “injuries consistent with being crushed,” she said.
